LEGENDARY FOOTBALLERS - ERKAN VELİOĞLU

ERKAN VELİOĞLU (1963-1970) (8 YEARS)

Born in Rize in 1942, Erkan Velioglu started his football career at Çırçırspor. He later played for İstanbulspor and Karügümrük before joining Altınordu in 1963. He wore the red and navy jersey continuously for 7 years. He also represented the Ordu National Team. During his time with the national team, Turkey finished second in the Ordu National Teams Tournament held in Bağdat, where he played. Erkan Velioglu displayed exemplary leadership as the captain of Altınordu during the second half of the 1960s and acted as a supportive elder brother within the team. After leaving Altınordu in 1970, he played for Balıkesirspor and Göztepe. After retiring from football, he started coaching the İzmir youth team together with his friend from İzmirspor, Turgay Meto. He led Göztepe to become the champion of the 2nd League in the 1980-81 season. He also coached other teams such as Karşıyaka, İzmirspor, Manisaspor, Bandırmaspor, Denizlispor, and Uşakspor.
