Mustafa Güngören, born in 1951 in Izmir, started his career as a young goalkeeper at the age of 17 in Altınordu in 1968. He successfully guarded the Altınordu goal for 6 uninterrupted years until 1974 and was known for his penalty saves. He is a goalkeeper who saved a penalty and converted one into a goal in the same match. He was selected for the national team squad, and he guarded the goal in 23 matches for the Youth, U-21, and National Army teams. Mustafa Güngören, who earned the title of the most successful goalkeeper at the Mediterranean Games, transferred to Beşiktaş in 1974.
