LEGENDARY FOOTBALLERS - METİN GÖKALP

METİN GÖKALP (1980-1984) (4 Years)

Metin Gökalp, born in 1957, is the son of Cavit Gökalp, one of Altınordu's legendary players and a devoted Altınordu fan. He transferred to Altınordu from Tirespor in 1980 and wore the Altınordu jersey successfully for 3 seasons. With his tall stature and technique, Metin Gökalp became one of the key players in Altınordu's defense. Known for his ability to start the game from the defense and his effective header shots in corner kicks, Metin Gökalp transferred to Gençlerbirliği, a 1st League team, for 50 million TL in 1984. This transfer is the highest transfer fee in Altınordu's history. In the historic match against Mersin İdman Yurdu, which ended in a 4-4 draw at Alsancak Stadium, he scored a last-minute goal that filled the entire stadium with joy. After Metin Gökalp's goal, Altay became the champion in the 2nd League.
